This Malibu oceanfront landscape by Olga Stritar was designed to elevate the outdoor experience of a coastal estate while preserving breathtaking views of the Pacific. The design introduces refined outdoor living spaces—including a hot tub, fire pit lounge, and outdoor kitchen—paired with soft coastal planting that complements the home’s architecture and the surrounding landscape.
The result is a sophisticated coastal garden that balances elegance, comfort, and effortless maintenance for modern California living.
The Outcome
Despite the backyard’s compact footprint, the design maximizes space and openness to create the feeling of a larger outdoor retreat. A hot tub and barbecue area were thoughtfully integrated to support relaxed coastal entertaining. Hazardous plants were removed and replaced with soft, resilient plantings that are safe for children and pets.
In the front yard, the landscape was reimagined to feel fresh, inviting, and visually dynamic. A comfortable seating area and fire pit were carefully positioned to frame and celebrate the breathtaking views of the Malibu coastline, creating an elegant space for gathering and quiet moments of reflection.
