Design Where Art and Science Meet
Award-Winning Landscape Designer with Over 20 Years of Experience
Olga Stritar founded Artistic Garden Designs after more than two decades designing refined outdoor environments for Bay Area homes. Her work blends artistic vision with deep knowledge of California's climate, resulting in landscapes that are both beautiful and highly functional. A background in geology, chemistry, biology, engineering, agriculture, and horticulture informs every project, so the results don't just look beautiful, they hold up.
The studio takes a collaborative approach, working closely with homeowners, architects, and builders to create cohesive outdoor spaces, from estate scale transformations to thoughtfully designed living environments. Every project is carried from concept to reality hands-on.
Design priorities include:
Long-term sustainability
Drought-tolerant planting strategies
Fire-conscious landscape planning
Seamless indoor-outdoor flow
This approach traces back to childhood. Growing up in Poland, her family manufactured garden pottery and ran a plant nursery, and her parents were accomplished ceramic producers and artists. Being surrounded by both handmade craft and living plants built an instinct for gardens that most designers spend years trying to develop, and it's why the landscapes feel less designed than grown, art and horticulture treated as one discipline rather than two.
The practice moved to the U.S. in 2018, bringing that same heritage, artistic on one side and agricultural on the other, to gardens throughout California and beyond.
Medalist, San Francisco Flower and Garden Show, 2019
This medal-winning garden explored the connection between beautiful outdoor space, healthy food, and well-being. Every plant was chosen for one of three qualities: oxygen supply, medicinal value, or edible use, built as a space to actually sit in and enjoy, not just look at. Coffee, orange, lemon, and apple trees surround the seating area, with a small steaming geyser feature releasing essential oils nearby.
Artistic Garden Designs also holds a Silver Award from the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, California Chapter, a Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper certification, and degrees in Landscape Architecture and Agriculture from Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
